无论是装修设计界还是一般的业主对软装和硬装都有很多的说法和自己的理解。比较简单粗暴的说法是，如果将房子倒过来，那些能掉下来的物品就属于软装，掉不下来的就是属于硬装。也有人认为，硬装为骨肉，就像人的身材和肤色；而软装为皮囊，就像衣服和妆容，因此烘托气氛、创造意境、强化风格、丰富空间层次、调节色彩等部分都属于软装。

其实，我比较赞同今天几位设计师的观点，设计师张萍和刘悦鹏都认为，随着建筑装饰材料的发展变化，在很大程度上已经打破了软硬装的边界，二者并没有严格的区分了。比如说，过去瓷砖、壁纸这些都属于硬装，而现在瓷砖、壁纸均具有极强的装饰效果，可以表现出木头、金属、织布、石材等质地，花纹也千变万化，丰富多彩，完全具备了软装陈设艺术的特质。

They can show the texture of wood, metal, fabric, stone and so on. The pattern is also varied and colorful, and it has the characteristics of the soft furnishings.

再比如说，灯具究竟属于软还是硬？因此，软装与硬装只是一个相对的概念，无论是设计师还是业主没有必要去纠结这个问题，对于设计来说，软硬装原本就是一个整体，必须相互配合支撑才能保证效果。
